From Within

“From Within” is a sculptural and performative exploration of birth, rebirth, and the struggle of emergence. Formed through an intense physical process, the structure takes shape as pressure from within pushes outward, breaking through confinement to reveal what lies beneath.

The sculpture, raw and fragile on the exterior, encloses a deep red interior—a contrast between protection and the vitality of transformation. Its enclosed form suggests both a refuge and a barrier, a space that holds and restricts at the same time.

The performance unfolds as the structure is re-entered, engaging in a cyclical act of containment and release. A body pushes through the opening, pressing against its fragile shell, attempting to navigate the confines of the space. The movements evoke tension—resistance, struggle, persistence—until emergence becomes inevitable. The breaking, shifting, and reshaping of the form mirror the process of transformation itself.

The interplay between sculpture and movement invites reflection on the cycles of becoming, shedding, and renewal. What does it take to break through? And when something emerges, is it ever truly free from what was left behind? The answer, perhaps, lies from within.
